Evaluation

EVALUATION CRITERIA
Candidates will evaluate their work electronically. This MUST contain an element of audience feedback and may be either integrated with the presentation of the research and planning material or may be presented separately. Where candidates have worked in a group, the evaluation may be presented individually or collectively but the teacher must allocate a mark according the contribution/level of understanding demonstrated by the individual candidate.

The questions that must be addressed in the evaluation are:

2.How does your media product represent particular social groups?
3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
4.Who would be the audience for your media product?
5.How did you attract/address your audience?
6.What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
7.Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Excellent ability to refer to the choices made and outcomes.
Excellent understanding of their development from preliminary to full task.
Excellent ability to communicate.
Excellent skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the evaluation

1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Some of the main conventions that I have included are a bar code, price and a date for the magazine. I tried to make these realistic by researching it beforehand. I have created a house style. I included an advert, which is a big convention of a magazine. I have included page numbers in the same colour at the bottom of every page to make it look professional and to stick to media conventions of a magazine.

2.How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The social group that would most likely be interested in my magazine would be average teenage girls that is interested in gossip and music.

3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think that Bauer media would distribute my magazine as they also distribute Q magazine and Mojo magazine. I have looked at both these magazines closely and have even emulated them in some parts. I used the black and white theme of Q magazine on my second double page spread. I used the layout on Mojo for my front cover with the white text spread out across the picture to let the audience know who it is.

4.Who would be the audience for your media product?

Mostly teenagers and considering my interview it is most likely to attract girl’s attention more.

5.How did you attract/address your audience?

I included an advert that would appeal to them. I wrote an interview that I believe they would be interested in and would like to read. I focused my main article on one famous individual that may appeal to that age group.  People have commented how they like the layout of the second double page spread and they like the individuality of the contents page.

6.What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt a lot about Photoshop and Indesign. I learnt how to use photoshop and different effects on the program through practice with my preliminary tasks. Indesign I found very easy to use and extremely useful when it came to adding my text and continuing it on to the next page.

7.Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I have learnt how to direct a photo shoot to get the picture I want. I have learnt how to use various tools in photoshop in order to get the effect I was looking for. I have also learned how to use the column tool in Indesign so it is easy to continue on to the next page without cutting anything out.  I have learnt how to set out a magazine front cover and make the contents page interesting. I have learnt how grid references work and how to stick to them.
